Montgomery officer Mayyou promoted to patrol sergeant

Montgomery Police Officer Gregory Mayyou was promoted to patrol sergeant effective May 1, 2016, the department has announced.

Mayyou has been with the department since September 2010 and has previous experience as a police officer in Downers Grove. Mayyou graduated from Western Illinois University in 2006 with two bachelor of science degrees, majoring in law enforcement administration justice and sociology, and a minor in computer science.

Since being hired by the village, Mayyou has served as lead field training officer, evidence technician, and is a member of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team.

“Sgt. Mayyou has had a fine career in law enforcement and we look forward to many more years,” said Police Chief Daniel Meyers.

Meyers praised Mayyou's abilities as an officer and emphasized the respect his fellow officers have for him in the department.
