GENOA – A Hampshire man died Tuesday after a semitrailer tipped onto him at a Genoa truck business.
Matthew L. Lenz, 31, of the 200 block of Panama Avenue, was dead at the scene when police and fire officials arrived, according to a news release. Lenz was an employee at Adkins Milk Hauling, 33473 Genoa Road, where the incident occurred.
Sheriff’s deputies, Genoa police officers and the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department responded about 2:45 p.m. to the company, where a man was reportedly underneath a tipped-over semitrailer loaded with cream, according to the news release.
Lenz was trying to hook up the tank to the semitractor when it sank in the gravel and landed on him, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Andy Sullivan said.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, DeKalb County Coroner’s Office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were investigating the incident.
