Bolingbrook man charged in heroin death

BOLINGBROOK – A Bolingbrook man has been charged with drug-induced homicide for allegedly selling a fatal amount of heroin to a Naperville man earlier this year.

Daksh N. Relwani, 22, of the 1800 block of Marne Road in Bolingbrook, was taken into custody by Bolingbrook police Saturday afternoon. Relwani is charged with drug-induced homicide, delivery of drugs and marijuana possession. He faces six to 30 years in prison, if convicted. He was released from the Will County Jail early Sunday after posting a $500,000 bond.

Will County Coroner Patrick K. O’Neil said that about noon March 5, Joshua P. Kasnicka, 21, was found unresponsive on a couch at Relwani’s house and 911 was called.

Detectives investigating a fatal overdose learned Relwani “sold two hits of heroin to the deceased,” Bolingbrook Police Lt. Carter Larry said. “Both the victim and Daksh used the heroin in Daksh’s basement.”

O’Neil said toxicology results show Kasnicka died of a heroin overdose.

According to court records, Relwani has been ticketed for several traffic violations since 2014 and was ticketed by Channahon police in February for marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
