WOODSTOCK – After being closed for about two months, the former Tequilaville restaurant has reopened as Corner Pub & Grille under one of its previous owners.
Restaurant manager Michelle Fisk said the business, 135 Washington St., had a soft opening last week, and a grand opening will be planned in the next couple of weeks.
While the restaurant still has some dishes from the former establishment, including fajitas, the new American menu features flatbread pizzas, fried pickles, burgers and hot dogs, Fisk said.
“This corner has never worked,” owner Afrim Banushi said. “And it’s always been either Italian food or Mexican food, so I’m like, ‘Let’s try some more traditional American food.’ ”
Part of the reason why Tequilaville closed was because business was just OK, Banushi said, and the co-owner of Tequilaville, Memo Zamorano, moved out of town.
Tequilaville had been open for about a year, Banushi said. The restaurant now has a new look to it, and Banushi and Fisk said they hope it will have a welcoming atmosphere where people can come for drinks with their friends.
There are about five members on staff now, and the restaurant is working on hiring more, he said.
Food is served from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and the bar is open until about 1 a.m., Fisk said. Food is served from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and the bar is open until about 2 a.m., she said.
There is room for about 90 people in the dining room and video gaming area, Banushi said, and more space outside on the patio.
The business does not yet have a website or Facebook page, but it can be reached at 815-527-7870.
