ST. CHARLES – The teenagers accused of vandalizing St. Charles Park District property have settled with the agency's insurer regarding damages, according to Kane County court records.
In an order dated April 14, Associate Judge Thomas J. Stanfa dismissed the case, noting the parties – PDRMA Property and Casualty, William Donlevy, Kyle Wandle and Nicholas Zamecnik – reached an agreement.
The case was dismissed with prejudice, meaning the plaintiff cannot file another case on the same claim.
The order did not include details of the settlement but stated the court retains jurisdiction to enforce the settlement's terms.
PDRMA was seeking $25,288.92 from the teens, according to an amended complaint filed in March. The insurer sought $17,478.92 in its original filing.
Meanwhile, Zamecnik, 18, and Donlevy and Wandle, both 19, continue to face felony charges in connection with the Dec. 19 incidents at James O. Breen Community Park and Otter Cove Aquatic Park.
St. Charles police have said video surveillance captured their actions, which reportedly led to broken doors, windows, computer monitors, printers, refrigerators and a lightning detection system.
Preliminary hearings on the criminal charges are scheduled for May 25 for Wandle and June 10 for Zamecnik and Donlevy.
In addition to the St. Charles case, Donlevy, Wandle and Zamecnik – along with a fourth teen, Jacob Principato – face charges connected to burglaries in Campton Hills.
