An educator who began his career as a classroom teacher at Arbor View School is returning to Community Consolidated School District 89 as assistant superintendent for learning.
Robert Langman currently holds a dual role in Addison Elementary School District 4 as the principal of Wesley Elementary School and director of instructional technology. Langman taught fourth and fifth grades at Arbor View for six years before becoming an assistant principal in 2007 for Benjamin School District 25 in West Chicago.
In his current role in District 4, where he has worked since 2009, Langman has coordinated and implemented many successful programs district wide and within Wesley School, according to a District 89 news release.
Langman was selected from a field of more than 45 candidates and interviewed by a panel that included administrators, teachers and a board member.
While teaching in District 89, Langman demonstrated his leadership skills early in his career by serving as summer school principal and differentiation learning team coach, according to the release. He also led the mathematics and science curriculum mapping initiative.
He is replacing Emily Tammaru, who will begin leading the district as superintendent July 1, following the retirement of Superintendent John Perdue. Langman earned his doctorate in educational administration from Aurora University and received a master’s degree in school leadership from Concordia University and a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Elmhurst College.
“Robert’s expertise in curriculum, learning, professional development and instructional technology, as well as his commitment to all children, make him an excellent choice,” Tammaru said in the release.
