West Chicago High School to present 'Drowsy Chaperone' musical comedy

WEST CHICAGO – Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School next week will present “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a hit musical comedy.

In the story, a man recalls a bygone era and special wedding day, according to the news release, which calls the Tony Award-winning musical a love letter to Broadway.

“‘The Drowsy Chaperone’ is a perfect show,” cast member Ricky Gieser of Carol Stream said in the release. “It makes you laugh and forget the world outside for a couple hours.”

Fellow performer Robert Bradley of West Chicago added, “I love this show. It really is a show that is for anyone who listens to a tune to forget the troubles of the day, sings along to the car radio, and dances around in the living room.”

The company includes Grecia Bahena, Jeremy Belingon, Josh Bowen, Robert Bradley, Andrew Brady, Abby Carr, Alexia Goutanis, Megan Graal, Stephen Lewis, Maria Lineses, Patrick McCormack, Eli Manspeaker, Jenny Manspeaker, Cuyler Martin, Megan McDonald, Evy McLean, Kirsten Miller, Mya Moore, Justin Pantaleon, Sean Renwick, Jeri Rethford, Delaney Ringe, Neve Ryan, Maxwell Smith, Katie Steininger, Taizha Walker, Alex Weaver and Noah Zieche of West Chicago; Kenneth Correa, Dylan Davidson, Ricky Gieser and Luke Madden of Carol Stream; and Kevin Buh, Maggie Clancy, Erin Gauss, Jerod Goodale, Jack Gillespie, Evander Lopez, Jenna Palka, Madysen Simanonis, Connor Thompson, Natalie Thompson, Joy Vogt and Daniel Weber of Winfield.

“The Drowsy Chaperone” is directed by Mark Begovich. Music direction is by Brandon Fantozzi, and the orchestra is prepared by Stephen Govertsen.

Choreography is by Nancy Bocek, with technical direction by Chris Jensen, costume design by Lauren Roarke, and makeup and hair by Jaime Elza and TCD Cosmo Club.

Performances will begin at 7 p.m. April 28 to 30 at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St. Tickets costs $5 for students and $8 for adults. They are available at www.wegotheatre.com or at the door.

Wego Drama will represent the United States at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland.
