Sylvia D. Madden

STERLING – Sylvia Darlene Madden, 84, of Sterling, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at her home.

Sylvia was born Jan. 26, 1932, in Pocahontas, the daughter of Lawrence and Ermma (Powell) Ackerman. She married Robert “Bob” Madden on Aug. 9, 1953, in Lee Center.

Survivors include her husband of Sterling; one daughter, Sue (Keith) Foreman of Naples, Florida; four sons, Bob Madden of Rochelle, Jeff Madden of McMinnville, Tennessee, Joe (Kim) Madden of Coal Valley, and David Madden of Bessemer, Alabama; one sister, Bonnie (Sonny) Fisher of Lee Center; one brother, Larry Ackerman of Florida; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Marty Ackerman; and two brothers, Art and Ronnie Ackerman.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, and the funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. David Behmlander, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Schilling Funeral Home & Cremation in Sterling is handling arrangements.

A memorial has been established to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
