Randall Road Animal Hospital pitching new veterinary clinic in Huntley

Developers to present proposal for Route 47 facility to Plan Commission

HUNTLEY – Representatives of Randall Road Animal Hospital will present a proposal for a veterinary clinic along Route 47 to the Plan Commission on Monday, nearly four months after an original plan for a clinic further south was shot down by the Village Board.

The company now is seeking to open a veterinary clinic at 11804 Route 47, a vacant space facing Route 47 that used to house Manning Concrete.

In January, the Village Board considered the location and, without discussion, gave the developer the go-ahead to begin the formal planning process.

At the 6:30 p.m. meeting Monday, the petitioner will request a text amendment to allow a veterinary hospital as a special use in the manufacturing zoning district and obtain a special use permit.

In November, the petitioner proposed opening a veterinary clinic at 12372 Princeton Drive in the space adjacent to Sleepy's. The Village Board rejected it in a 4-1 vote, saying they wanted that site used for retail or a restaurant.

The proposed clinic would primarily provide vaccinations for small animals and would not provide overnight stays or kennels.

Dr. Mandeep Sandhu, the veterinarian who wants to open a clinic, has practices in Crystal Lake, South Elgin and North Aurora.

According to research from Mark Ebacher of Interstate Partners, the owner of the space the clinic had previously tried to open in, Huntley has one veterinary clinic per 12,556 residents, a much lower rate than the one per 6,180 residents in the surrounding area.
