Police bust Braidwood meth lab

BRAIDWOOD – Two Braidwood men have been arrested after police last week raided a suspected meth lab.

Braidwood Police Chief Nick Ficarello said police received an anonymous tip early last week about suspicious activity at a residence in the 400 block of West Second Street and began an investigation.

"We obtained a search warrant and went in at 7 p.m. Friday with assistance from state police and Wilmington police, and officers located the remnants of a lab used to manufacture crystal meth," Ficarello said.

Police found 768 grams of methamphetamine, which Ficarello said is the most ever recovered in Braidwood. He estimates the meth would have a street value of about $9,000.

Stanley Cochran, 47, was arrested on a charge of manufacturing narcotics. Another resident, Chad M. Ferguson, 38, was arrested on a charge of marijuana possession and also has an outstanding warrant from Naperville, according to police reports.
