Celebrity Dance Studio brings joy of dance to wider community

Sharing her love of dance and its health and social benefits through community outreach, Ann Garvey, owner of Celebrity Dance Studio in Downers Grove, has been volunteering her talents at two senior centers twice a week.

Oak Trace in Downers Grove and Villa St. Benedict in Lisle have shown wonderful enthusiasm for the program and absolutely love working on cardio and mind exercise, the news release stated, noting, “It’s Ann’s passion for dance and seeing how much the people love it that makes it all worthwhile.”

Dance exercises both body and brain, and nurtures social interaction, with no partner needed to get in on the fun. The seniors will show their moves April 3 while visiting Willowbrook Ballroom in Willow Springs.

Garvey, a choreographer and accomplished dance instructor, began her professional dancing and teaching career over 30 years ago. She is a first-place professional competitor, competing regionally and nationally. Her teaching style and creative choreography have earned many of her competitive students first-place finishes.
