Face Time with John Norman

Aurora resident John Norman, 72, was at the Batavia Public Library when he answered seven questions for the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Joplin, Missouri, then Manhattan, Kansas, then St. Joseph, Missouri, then Aurora when I was 18.

First job?Cleaning the stadium by our house in St. Joseph for 25 cents a day when I was 8 years old. The team was the St. Joseph Saints.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A baseball player. I became a public aid caseworker for Illinois.

A movie you’d recommend? National Lampoon’s “Vacation”

Favorite ice cream flavor? Butter brickle

Favorite local restaurant? Little Owl in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I ran track, and when I was 31, I ran a 4:51 mile. It was something I couldn’t achieve in high school, but I finally did it.
