GENEVA – The J.C. Licht paint store in Geneva is among 31 stores now under new ownership, according to a news release from the company.
Elliot Greenberg bought the retail paint store from Benjamin Moore last year, spokeswoman Kim Smuda said. Greenberg formerly was vice president of operations at Ring's End, a home improvement chain based in Connecticut, Smuda said.
“He plans on adding 50 new stores in the next five years,” Smuda said.
The new company’s headquarters is based in Addison.
Management of the store, which is located at 716 W. State St., Geneva, will stay the same, according to the release.
J.C. Licht was founded in 1907 by Jacob Christian Licht, who opened his first store at 3150 W. 12th St., Geneva.
The business grew to 30 stores before it was purchased by Benjamin Moore in 2000. Benjamin Moore paint will continue to be the major brand sold at J.C. Licht, according to the release.
