DeKALB – Two women face criminal charges after police found more than 150 Xanax pills in one woman’s boot during a drug investigation.

Officers also found what they suspect is marijuana wax and drug paraphernalia, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

“We observed a suspicious vehicle in the area,” Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Andy Sullivan said, “which led to the arrests.”

Alexandra R. Bailey, 21, of the 100 block of North Hickory Street, Cortland, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a church, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Her bond is set at $20,000, and she must post $2,000 bail to be released from the DeKalb County Jail.

Aliza R. Patterson, 20, of the 200 block of Saint Andrews Drive, DeKalb, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Marijuana wax has a higher concentration of THC, which means the user will get more of the effect, Sullivan said.

“It’s trending,” he said. “It is more prevalent now.”

Patterson posted $150 bail Wednesday and was released from the DeKalb County Jail. She is due back in court March 3.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office and the DeKalb Police Department were conducting an investigation around the 200 block of East Locust Street, DeKalb, when they found the two women in a car, which smelled of marijuana, police said.

After a search, officers found three grams of suspected marijuana wax, a glass pipe with marijuana residue in it and a bottle of about 15 Xanax pills. Officers searched Bailey and discovered more than 150 additional Xanax pills in her boot.

Bailey is scheduled to appear in court March 18.
