Poopy's Pub N' Grub up for sale, but is still in business

SAVANNA – Poopy’s Pub ‘N Grub in Savanna is on the market, but that doesn’t mean the popular restaurant is closing for good.

Peggy Promenschenkel, co-owner of the restaurant, said Poopy’s has been closed since Jan. 4 for kitchen maintenance, but said the restaurant will open again Feb. 11.

“Yes, we did list Poopy’s in December, but we are absolutely not closing our doors,” Promenschenkel said. “Poopy’s will be business as usual, until if or when it sells.”

Promenschenkel, who co-owns the business with her husband, Kevin, opened Poopy’s in 1996. Inspired by his love for motorcycles, Kevin created the business with a biker theme.

“Unfortunately, listing it and closing for a few weeks back-to-back created lots of confusion,” Promenschenkel said. “We are both getting older, and a less crazy life does sound nice. But, until something happens, we are here and it will be business as usual.”

Poopy’s, 1030 Viaduct Road, bills itself as “the biggest biker destination in Illinois.” It’s located along the Great River Road, a popular biker route.
