JOLIET – Police said two men were driving Wednesday with a loaded gun in their car.
Deputy Chief Ed Gregory said tactical officers were on patrol at 11:23 p.m. when they saw a tan 2007 Buick make three turns without using turn signals near Willow Avenue and Marion Street. The Buick continued to Allen Street and pulled into an alley when police activated their emergency lights, Gregory said.
"The two occupants started to get out very quickly and the driver, Jahaud Davis, 23, wouldn't show his left hand to the officers," Gregory said.
Davis then allegedly ran through a yard to his own residence in the 200 block of Hunter Avenue before he was captured.
"There was a loaded handgun that could be seen on top of the center console. Neither man claimed ownership of the weapon," Gregory said.
Davis, and his passenger, John C. Brown, 44, were booked into the Will County jail on charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and defacing the identifying markings of a firearm.
Davis was also charged with resisting arrest. Brown, of the 2100 block of West Warren Boulevard in Chicago, was on parole for drug possession in Cook County, according to reports.
