Vernon Hills 51, Round Lake 14
Vernon Hills got a much needed win to head into the playoffs as the Cougars ended a three-game losing streak and defeated Round Lake 51-14 on Friday. Connor McNamara passed for more than 300 yards and added five touchdowns to lead the Cougars. Drew Winegardner had a great all-around game for Vernon Hills with a rushing touchdown, receiving touchdown, and two interceptions on defense. Round Lake was led by Tabieas Young who had a touchdown pass and 101 yards rushing.
Stevenson 55, Mundelein 21
Mundelein’s turnaround season ended with the Mustangs finishing one game short of a possible playoff berth after losing to Stevenson Friday. Mundelein was led by Isac Banuelos with 92 yards rushing and Jake Gokan added a touchdown run. Colten Fisher ended his impressive season with 157 yards passing, which included a 91-yard touchdown pass.
Crystal Lake Central 54, Grayslake Central 14
Grayslake Central ended its season winless for the second year in a row. The Tigers jumped out to a quick lead scoring three touchdowns in the first three minutes of the game Friday and the Rams really had no answer after that. Luke Shepherd led Grayslake Central with a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown in his final game for the Rams.
Lake Zurich 27, Warren 7
Warren had a tough end to the regular season Friday as the Blue Devils fell to Lake Zurich. The Bears jumped out to an early lead and Warren had trouble getting anything going the whole night. Zachary Schulz scored the lone Warren touchdown on a pass from Kyle Debevec. Darrius Crump went over 1,000 yards on the season with his 84-yard performance this game.
Antioch 35, Grant 14
Antioch ended its season Friday with an impressive win over Grant. The Sequoits finished 5-4, but didn’t have enough playoff points to qualify for the postseason. Nick Dorosan finished with 148 yards rushing and Griffin Hill added a 61-yard touchdown run. Grant was led by Kenyon Jones, who finished with two rushing touchdowns.
Notre Dame 25, Carmel 13
Carmel gave a great effort Friday, but fell to a really good Niles Notre Dame team. The Corsairs had an interception return for a touchdown by Remy Chitwood. On offense, Rondel Jamison led Carmel with 81 yards rushing and a touchdown. The Corsairs finished 3-6 and didn’t qualify for the playoffs this year.
Grayslake North 35, Woodstock North 21
Grayslake North broke open a close game Friday, in the second half, as the Knights defeated Woodstock North and secured a spot in the playoffs. Once again, Grayslake North was led by Dami Oladunmoye, who finished with 240 yards rushing and three touchdowns to finish a fantastic regular season. Matthew Aiken added 82 yards and a touchdown.
Libertyville 40, Lakes 6
The Wildcats capped off a perfect regular season with a win Friday against Lakes. Riley Lees once again led the offense for Libertyville with four touchdowns and 143 yards rushing, along with 175 yards passing. Lakes got their touchdown from Leon Small. Both Lakes and Libertyville have qualified for the playoffs.
Wauconda 47, North Chicago 0
The playoffs seemed like a longshot after starting the season 1-4, but with a big win Friday, the Bulldogs are in fact playoff bound after winning four straight games. Wauconda was led Friday by Tyler Stankiewicz with 72 yards and two touchdowns, and Jacob Bicknase with 68 yards and a touchdown.
