Clarendon Hills student art to grace Walker's new yearbook

CLARENDON HILLS – Student winners have been announced for Walker elementary’s Yearbook Cover Art Contest in Clarendon Hills.

In previous years, the cover of the book had been an all-school photo, a news release stated. The yearbook team opted to move the group photo to the center spread and come up with a new cover based on a student art contest. It was decided to have the fifth-grade winner’s artwork appear on the front cover because that class will graduate. The other four classes’ winning works will be collaged on the back cover.

The yearbook team worked with art teacher Hillary Andrlik to help students come up with ideas and create a work of art that shows what Walker means to them.

“There were 51 entries in all, and they were all unique and showed Walker pride in many ways,” the release stated.

A handful of teachers gathered to anonymously vote for their favorites – one vote per grade. All the art went on display in the hall outside the art room, with ribbons next to the winners.
