High school girls golf: Hinsdale Central, IC's Maddie Hurt win state titles

DECATUR – Hinsdale Central was the team champion in Class AA and IC Catholic's Maddie Hurt won the Class A title at the girls state golf tournaments on Oct. 16 and 17.

The Red Devils scored a 617 over the two day tourney at Hickory Point Golf Club to finish 18 strokes ahead of Loyola as they won their second straight title.

Hurt finished in a tie for first place with Rochester's Morgan Savage and took home the title after winning a playoff at Red Tail Run Golf Course.

Hinsdale Central's Jennifer Lee finished tied for second individually with a 145 total, while Selina Zeng (tied for sixth, 153) and Roshannah Gaur (tied for ninth, 154) notched top-10 scores. Jahanavi Gaur (46th, 167), Maria Harrast (54th, 169) and Erin Bruns (56th, 170) also scored well for the Red Devils.

Benet freshman Lauren Beaudreau placed fourth in Class AA with a 146 total.

Wheaton Warrenville South earned a third place team trophy in Class AA with a 640 score. Sarah Hauenstein was the Tigers' top scorer, finishing 16th overall with a 158 score. Emma Field and Annalee Dannegger both tied for 26th with a 161 total, and Hadley Moritz tied for 31st with a 162 score. Priya Desai (40th, 165) and Julia Hauenstein (97th, 192) also played for South.

Downers Grove North finished 10th in the team standings with a 707 stroke total. Rachel Leucuta led the way with a 164 score, tied for 36th overall. Courtney Katz (63rd, 174), Annie Bedalov (78th, 179), Grace Holler (94th, 190), Madison Farnsworth (99th, 200) and Olivia Weaver (103rd, 205) also represented the Trojans at state.

Benet's Abby Bitto tied for 36th place with a 164 score.

Lemont's Maggie Micetich scored a 165 to tie for 40th place individually.

York's Ellen Foley (59th, 173) played her best golf during the second round, shooting an 85 with nine pars and a birdie.

Glenbard South's Elana Kozak tied for 67th place with a 176 score.

In Class A, Lisle finished 11th as a team (804) and Nazareth was 12th (820).

The Lions, who won conference, regional and sectional titles before state, were led by Hannah Altpeter (76th, 198) and Bella Daly (77th, 199). Savannah Zink (83rd, 204), Anna Palicka (84th, 206), Kelsey Liss (89th, 212) and Katelyn Fonner (98th, 228) also played at state for Lisle.

The Roadrunners counted only four scores during the second round of the tournament (as opposed to six). Grace Brown was 70th overall with a 194. Molly McAuliffe (78th, 202), Fallon Corcoran (92nd, 213) and Hannah Vanek (95th, 218) also played both rounds. Jackie Harmon and Giana Lapianna played only in the first round of the tourney.
