MOKENA – Mokena police are investigating the death of a 22-year-old woman.

Chief Steven Vaccaro said police received a call from a friend of the woman about 9:30 p.m. Monday. The friend reported the woman was unresponsive.

Vaccaro said officers went to the woman’s home in the 19200 block of Thornham Lane. When they arrived, they saw the woman appeared to have been dead for several days, Vaccaro said.

Vaccaro said no one else was at her home when police arrived.

He said police do not yet know the cause and manner of death, and are investigating it with the Will County Coroner’s Office.

“At this point, we are treating it as a death investigation,” he said.

Chief Deputy Coroner Bob Brenczewski said Tuesday the cause of death is unknown. He said the autopsy is completed, but the toxicology report and police investigation are pending.
