LA GRANGE – The staff at the Hope Chest in La Grange, a nonprofit boutique offering lightly used women and children’s clothing, long has prided itself on the store’s offerings of jewelry, shoes and accessories.
Proceeds from the Hope Chest, which was founded in 1994, support the Constance Morris House, a shelter for women and children who have experienced domestic violence.
The store will celebrate its 21st anniversary in December.
On Sept. 15, the Hope Chest re-opened its doors after making a small move to a bigger location. The shop now is at 305 W. Hillgrove Ave.
“We were previously located in 717 Hillgrove Ave.,” said Lisa Dymek of La Grange, a volunteer at the Hope Chest and a member of its board of directors. “We moved three blocks east … to a bigger shop. It’s a beautiful store.”
According to Dymek, volunteers at the store hope its new location will get more residents shopping and donating to the Hope Chest.
“The message we try to get out to the community is to get out and shop,” Dymek said. “We like to encourage people to donate lightly used items. We also encourage residents to come and volunteer at the shop. We’re always looking for volunteers to help unpack donations, steam and clean clothing, and create displays at the store.”
