OYTF teams face Week 4 action

Oswego Orange 8U earns 26-0 shutout win over DeKalb

The Oswego Youth Tackle Football program entered Week 4 of the season. Results below:

8U Division

Oswego Blue 25, Yorkville Red 12: After a slow start, the 8U Oswego Blue got the motor going. Brett Connolly was a workhouse and grinded out nice yardage on multiple runs all afternoon. Andy Pohlman, led by outstanding blocking, paved the way by scoring multiple touchdown runs. Connolly added a TD run to help Oswego Blue come out victorious. A strong blocking effort was led by Mikey Claycombe, Hunter Novak, Mariano Velasco, Brayden Cronin, Ryan Stork and Danny Claycombe. After giving up an early touchdown, the Oswego Blue team buckled down and took the game over. Key contributors on defense were Tyler Sklenicka, Jayden Husband, Dylan Koebele, Ryan Catey, Jayden Pugsley and Jace Hickman.

Oswego Orange 26, DeKalb 0: On Saturday, the Oswego 8U Orange team defeated DeKalb 26-0 and recorded its third shutout of the season. Linebacker Anthony Massoth made a touchdown-saving tackle early in the game and the defense held DeKalb the rest of the day. Dylan Cathey recorded nearly 200 rushing yards and three touchdowns while Joey Hartmann also put one in the end zone making the score 26-0 at halftime. The offense continued to move the ball with the help of running backs Joshua Malagon-Spencer, Noah Deist, Dante Layton and Payton Lanham. On defense, Oswego's play in the second half was led by Cole Perkins, Collin Kostman, Bradley Stratton, Ethan Emmick, Nolan Hutchings, Jeff Hernandez, Adrien Mason and Sanjith Prabhu. Oswego awarded its game balls to Hunter Amelio and Dylan Cathey for outstanding play and leadership on defense and offense, respectively.
 
9U Division

Oswego Orange 12, Plano 0: Devin White, Colin O'Grady, Johnny Cannavino and Owen Carlson combined for over 200 yards rushing with Devin leading the way scoring a pair of touchdowns on Sept. 8 as the Oswego 9U improved their record to 3-0. Great blocking from Grifen Brown, Hunter Garton, Ryan Kunitzer, Joey Abdallah, Dalton Platt, Jason Minnis and Taiden Thomas help pave the way along with some nice pass catching by Finn Anderson and Grant Zegar. The defense recorded its second consecutive shut out with a great team effort from Brandon Becker, Greyson McDonald, Ryan Pass, Aiden Mueller, Noah Vera, Luke Austin. Both sides of the ball played great with additional contributions from Carter Hattrem, Austin Campos, Abe Hansen, Tyler Hammond and Sam Leurck helped seal the victory.

Plano 20, Oswego White 19 (OT): On Saturday, the Panthers traveled to Plano and the Panthers took the opening drive and marched right down the field and scored a touchdown by Cole Henrikson and a pass to Adam Elabed for a 7-0 lead. Ayhem Elabed recovered an onside kick and the Panthers were in business again, and they marched down the field and scored another touchdown by Cole Henrikson. Then in the second half, Plano scored two touchdowns to tie the score at 13 and send the game into overtime. In addition to Henrickson and Elabed, the entire team fought hard in the overtime game, including: Alfonso Rubio, Max Gardner, Joshua Munson-Rodriguez, Frankie Carino, Jonah Harder, Emmanuel Seaton, Xavier Ramirez, Austin Weis, Christopher Carich, Louis Martinez, Mark Hellyer, Alan Andrade, Moises Perez and Tyler Weddington.

7th Grade Division

Oswego Blue 20, Oswego Orange 12: Oswego Blue (2-1) faced off against Oswego Orange (2-1). The game started with an Oswego Blue fumbled snap. Orange struck quickly on a 35-yard TD run by Luke Childers to make the score 6-0. After a successful onside kick, Orange marched inside the blue 10-yard line but failed to score on 4th down because of a great TD saving tackle by Peyton Heckman. Blue took over and drove 95 yards on great runs by Antonio Hughes and finished the drive with a 6-yard Joey DeMarco TD. Blue converted the extra point to make the score 8-6. Orange struck again in the second quarter with a 40-yard TD pass from Dylan Allen to Matt Murray. On the kick return, Blue's Joey DeMarco took the kickoff 74 yards to get to the Orange 6, and Kyle Morrissey scored on the next play. The second half started with great defense and continued until Blue finally broke some nice runs to setup Antonio Hughes for a 1-yard score. Blue took over with 2:00 left and were able to run the clock out after a 25-yard Antonio Hughes run sealed the victory 20-12. Key defensive plays were made by Peyton Heckman, Bradley King, Andres Castillo and Antonio Hughes.

8th Grade Division

Plano 36, Oswego Orange 6

Oswego Blue 30, Sandwich 6: On Sunday, the Oswego Blue Panthers (2-2) hosted the Sandwich Indians in Week 4 of Big 12 action. On the Panther's opening play from scrimmage, Aiden Avalos broke through for a 70-yard touchdown run. Joey Niesman ran in the two-point conversion to give Oswego an early 8-0 lead. On the Panther's next possession, Jack Perillo ran up the middle for a 40-yard gain behind the interior blocking of Adam Ingalls, Logan Franzen and Trever Carroll. Perillo capped off the drive with his first touchdown of the season. On Oswego's third possession, outside running from KK Thompson and Jeremy Musson set up the Panthers deep in Sandwich territory. Perillo finished the drive with his second touchdown on the day giving Oswego a 22-0 halftime lead. To start the third quarter, Niesman connected on a pass with Ryan Chivari who raced down the sideline for a 50-yard score. Jacob Chivari dove across the goal line for the two point conversion. Defensively, Shane Murray, Liam Bailey, Javy Magana, Jacob Dior and Aidan Cassian all recorded multiple tackles for losses for the Panthers.
