SYCAMORE – A DeKalb man and woman who police say were among a group that forced their way into a DeKalb apartment, dragged out one of its occupants and left him on the sidewalk after beating him unconscious, remained in the DeKalb County Jail Monday.
DeKalb Police arrested Crena V. McGee, 26, of the 800 block of Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, and Lenardo “Nardo” Perkins, 34, of the 14100 block of Tracy Avenue, Riverdale, not long after the attack in the 800 block of Kimberly Drive early Saturday.
McGee and Perkins are each charged with home invasion, mob action and battery. If convicted of the most serious charge, home invasion, they could face six to 30 years in prison.
Police responded to a call about a fight at the Kimberly Apartments and arrived to see a group of men running from an unconscious person on the sidewalk, court records show.
The victim, who had been beaten, was taken by ambulance to Kishwaukee Hospital.
A witness told police McGee knocked on the Kimberly Drive apartment door with eight men, who forced their way in when a woman answered the door, court records show.
There seems to be a history of conflict between both parties, DeKalb Deputy Police Chief John Petragallo said.
“What that history is and the specific cause is still being looked into,” Petragallo said. “We did not get a lot of cooperation that evening, I can tell you that.”
Police said Perkins pulled a man out of the apartment, then repeatedly kicked and punched him, court records show.
Police caught Perkins as he ran from the fight, records show. They located McGee in the McDonald’s drive-through, where she was arrested. Both remained in DeKalb County jail on Monday.
Perkins’ bond was set Monday at $200,000 and he must post $20,000 bail to be released, while McGee’s bond has been set at $100,000 and she must post $10,000 bail to be released.
Their next scheduled court appearance is Thursday.
