Sigifredo Moncivais

STERLING – Sigifredo Moncivais, 73, of Sterling, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Sigifredo was born May 25, 1942, in Monterrey, Mexico, the son of Pedro and Carmen (Alvarez) Moncivais. He married Maria Echebarria on Jan. 21, 1966, in Sterling.

Sigifredo worked for the City of Sterling for more than 10 years. He enjoyed listening to music, working on cars, collecting watches, and fixing and working with electronics, always wanting them to be modified his way.

Survivors include his daughter, Debra (Jason) Lira of Sterling; two sons, Pedro (fiancée Veronica Hurless) Moncivais of Rock Falls, and Tony (Trisha Cane) Moncivais of Galt; brother, Jose Luis (Mary) Moncivais of St. Louis, Missouri; six sisters, Carmon M. (Richard) Armstrong of San Antonio, Maria DeJesus (Alejandro) Garza of Adkins, Texas, Rosa Gonzalez of Monterrey NL, Mexico, Josefina (Pablo) Fernandez of San Antonio, Maria Guadalupe Moncivais of San Antonio, and Sylvia Moncivais of Texas; and seven grandchildren, Jesse, Janessa, Esai, Isaac, Keegen, Isriel, and Khloe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Martha Rendon Moncivais.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, followed by the funeral service at 4 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
