Carol Stream man, Aurora woman die in motel murder-suicide

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS – A Carol Stream man has been identified as the offender of a July 9 murder-suicide at a Motel 6 in Arlington Heights, according to the Arlington Heights Police Department.

Louis Antonio Nonato-Velasquez, 32, of Carol Stream, killed himself July 9 after murdering Cecilia Perez, 41, of Aurora. The two knew each other and were dating, according to police.

The bodies were found by staff about 1 p.m. July 9 at the Motel 6 located at 441 W. Algonquin Road. Arlington Police Department then responded to the incident, discovering the bodies of Nonato-Velasquez and Perez and a knife that was used to commit the murder suicide.

The death of both Nonato-Velasquez and Perez resulted because of multiple stabs and sharp force injuries, according to an autopsy performed by the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Perez's death has been ruled a homicide and Nonato-Velasquez's death has been ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner.
