WAUCONDA – A Grand Opening Celebration and ribbon cutting was held Saturday at the Wauconda Area Library, 801 N. Main St., Wauconda. The newly remodeled library features $1.75 million in improvements.
Trustees approved the project in February. The original facility was built in 1997. The renovation project was intended to bring the library's interior up to date and set the stage for providing "outstanding library services for the Wauconda Area community well into the future," according to the library website.
The library's exterior was not included in the project. New additions include a more accessible circulation area and information desk, new carpeting, paint, chairs and tables, more rooms, a larger teen area, user-friendly technology, children's spaces, an expanded staff workroom and sound improvements in the community meeting room.
The library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday.
