New Lenox man charged with armed, aggravated robbery

NEW LENOX – Police have charged a New Lenox man with armed and aggravated robbery in connection with a Feb. 1 robbery at Walgreens, 466 N. Nelson Road.

New Lenox police arrested Christopher Sanders, 41, of 1279 Edmonds Ave., the department announced in a news release Friday. Sanders was taken into custody after police executed a search warrant at his home, according to the news release.

The Will County Special Operations Group assisted, police said. Sanders was taken to the Will County jail pending a bond hearing.

In the Feb. 1 robbery, narcotics were stolen from the Walgreens, police said.

Investigators previously said a man entered the Walgreens at 3:40 a.m., went to the pharmacy and displayed a silver and black rifle. After demanding Fentanyl, a painkiller, the man left the store.

No one was injured.
