Students at Chelsea Intermediate School in Frankfort adopt gorillas

FRANKFORT – During the second quarter, the fourth grade class at Chelsea Intermediate School in Frankfort fourth grade read the novel, "The One & Only Ivan" by Katherine Applegate, about a lowland mountain gorilla who was raised by a human and then put into a man-made domain located inside a mall.

From the novel and their other research, the students became inspired to raise $400 raised through a popsicle fundraiser to adopt three lowland mountain gorillas from the World Wildlife Organization (WWF.)
