JOLIET – The Movies 10 theater could be demolished before the end of February, according to a news release from a developer.
Inland Real Estate Corp. said the existing building will be demolished in February or March. Construction on new stores should begin in April, with stores opening in the fall.
The redevelopment will add 30,000 square feet to the Joliet Commons shopping center, Inland said in the news release.
Dick’s Sporting Goods and DSW Designer Shoe Warehouse will occupy a new 65,000-square-foot building.
Movies 10 closed last week.
“The addition of Dick’s and DSW further strengthens the center’s position as a top shopping destination within the greater Joliet regional submarket and provides long-term benefits to the surrounding community,” Chief Investment Officer Scott Carr said in the release.
The total leasing space at Joliet Commons, located at U.S. Route 30 and Hennepin Drive, is 229,000 square feet.
