Fiancé arrested and charged

with domestic battery

A Brookfield man was taken into custody Feb. 10 following an argument with his fiancée that ended when he threw a wooden baby gate at the woman.

Police were called to a residence in the 4500 block of Elm Avenue on a report of an argument in process. Police arrived and found the victim standing outside the residence where she and Robert J. Spagnola, 37, shared an apartment. Spagnola, who was in the apartment with the couple’s 1-year-old child, refused several requests to open the door before he finally allowed police to enter.

Spagnola also was charged with obstructing a police officer.

RIVERSIDE

DUI

• John M. Lynch, 54, of the 300 block of Herrick Road, Riverside, was charged at 6:39 p.m. Feb 4 with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop for an expired vehicle registration near the intersection of Lawton Road and Harlem Avenue. Lynch refused to take field sobriety and blood alcohol level tests. He also was charged with not having proof of insurance and having an expired registration.

• Ulysses Rodriguez, 27, of the 4800 block of West 23rd Street, Cicero, was charged at 3:06 a.m. Feb. 7 with DUI of alcohol following a traffic stop for erratic driving in the 3200 block of South Harlem Avenue. Rodriguez had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and was unable to complete field sobriety tests. He failed a blood alcohol level test. He also was charged with five other moving violations.

• Mauricio Cigarroa-Diaz, 27, of the 50 block of Spaulding Street, Chicago, was charged at 5:56 a.m. Feb. 7 with DUI of alcohol after police responded to a call of a car stuck in a snowbank near the intersection of Riverside and Gage roads. Cigarroa-Diaz had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and failed field sobriety and Breathalyzer tests. He was also charged with four moving violations.

• Erik Quiroz, 30, of the 2700 block of South Harvey Avenue, Berwyn, was charged at 3:18 a.m. Feb. 3 with DUI of alcohol following a traffic stop at Harlem Avenue and 32nd Street for disobeying five traffic lights on Harlem Avenue. Quiroz had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and failed both field sobriety and blood alcohol tests. An open bottle of beer was found in his vehicle. Quiroz was also charged with nine moving violations.

• Joseph De Jesus Avila, 25, of the 5500 block of South Merrimac, Chicago, was charged at 5:08 a.m. Feb. 7 with DUI of alcohol following a traffic stop for speeding in the northbound lanes of Harlem Avenue between Longcommon and Pershing roads. Avila had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and failed field sobriety tests. He refused to take a breathalyzer test. He was also issued several moving violation citations.

• Kimberly Aguirre, 39, of the 6300 block of West 63rd Place, Chicago, was charged at 3:41 a.m. Feb. 8 with DUI of alcohol following a traffic stop for speeding and driving without headlights when required at Harlem Avenue and Pershing Road. Aguirre had an odor of alcohol on her breath and failed field sobriety tests. She was also issued several moving violation citations.
