Menchie's Frozen Yogurt at Randall Crossing in Algonquin grand opening set for Saturday

ALGONQUIN – Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, the latest addition to Randall Crossing in Algonquin, will give away frozen yogurt and T-shirts, and will offer various deals and discounts to celebrate its recent opening at 2351 N. County Line Road.

The frozen yogurt franchise plans to give away free frozen yogurt (up to 8 ounces per person) from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. There also will be face painting and other activities. The first 25 guests Sunday will get free plush dolls. Promotions will continue through Feb. 6, according to a news release.

Franchisees Don and Tracy Elbert of Cary opened the Algonquin Menchie's store Jan. 24.

“It’s been great,” Don Elbert said of the community response so far. “We are really excited for the grand opening.”

The Elberts fell in love with the self-serve frozen yogurt concept at a convention five years ago in Las Vegas.

They plan to have fun with the new business.

"Our mission is we make you smile," Don Elbert said. "It's going to be a fun place."

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt, which has more than 400 locations around the world, offers a variety of frozen yogurt flavors along with a wide assortment of toppings.
