WOODSTOCK – A woman once facing eviction admitted Wednesday to setting fire to her landlord's garage.
Angela M. Hacker pleaded guilty to arson charges and was sentenced to two years of probation. An additional criminal damage to property charge was dropped with the plea agreement approved by McHenry County Judge Sharon Prather.
Hacker, 33, also was ordered to pay a $500 fine and $3,034 in restitution for damage from the fire to the Dean Street home. Police at the time said the fire was set with an accelerant, likely gasoline.
Assistant State's Attorney Robert Zalud said he agreed to probation because of Hacker's limited criminal history and the amount of restitution she was ordered to pay.
Hacker had been in custody at the McHenry County Jail since her October arrest.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
