Heartland Bank names recipient of Heart of our Community Award

MINOOKA – Heartland Bank and Trust Company in Minooka presented their 2014 Heart of our Community award to Fred Ban at the November Chamber Business After Hours.

This award was established to recognize local Minooka residents who have stood out with their time and talent, according to a news release from the bank.

The Heart of Our Community award was presented by Terri Turney, retail manager for Heartland Bank in Minooka. Heartland Bank recognizes its responsibility extends beyond providing financial services to the communities it serves.

“We strongly believe the ongoing success of a community involves good corporate citizenship and making a difference in the lives of others,” Turney said in the release. This award was designed to recognize local residents who have done something extraordinary, touched someone by lending a helping hand or going above and beyond.

Ban leads by example in all that he does. He works for Minooka School District, volunteers at St. Mary’s for Religious Education and volunteers his time to coach the St. Ann Golden Eagles Jr. Varsity football team. Making a positive impact on all the children he interacts with, Ban mentors and guides them. He boosts their confidence so they in turn can build their own personal character, self-esteem, attitude and sportsmanship, according to the release.

Ban received a $100 Minooka Chamber Gift Certificate and a personalized “Heart” award.

“What a great way to top off our Business After Hours evening. Presenting our Heart of Our Community award and recognizing this deserving person was absolutely my favorite part of the night, Fred is very deserving. Keeping community in banking is what Heartland Bank and Trust Company is all about,” said Deanne Conterio, retail support manager, in the release.
