Sycamore Integrated Health carries family tradition

Dr. Zac Sheedy is carrying on his family's legacy of providing chiropractic care at Sycamore Integrated Health. He is the 33^rd chiropractor in his family.

“The original name of the practice was Sheedy Family Chiropractic, started by my great-uncle Mike in 1957,” he said. “He inspired my mom (Paula) to become a chiropractor, and together, they inspired me and my brother (T.J.) and I”

The family connection doesn’t end there. Sheedy met his wife, Morgan, originally from Alaska, while attending chiropractic school; she joined the family practice in 2011 after working in Rockford.

Although he firmly believes in the benefit of chiropractic care, Sheedy said he felt more services were needed under one roof to serve and treat the whole patient.“We knew there were other things we could offer to our patients,” Sheedy said.  "We aim to be a full-service health care clinic where our patients feel comfortable fulfilling all their health care needs without going to multiple locations."

In addition to Zac and Morgan Sheedy, the practice has a third chiropractor, a medical doctor, a nutritionist and two massage therapists.

Employing the technique known as chiropractic biophysics, because it is the most researched, Sheedy said sometimes patients need more than just an adjustment to fix their spines feel better for the long term. Treatment includes rehabilitation therapy and strengthening the body to avoid future injury.

“We get to the cause of the problem, and then build the body up,” Sheedy said.

Taking treatment one step farther than many other medical practices, Sheedy said they provide an educational component, not only about the injury or area affected, but overall health.
