Morgan Zuidema, 17, of Sterling, is one of Sterling High School's September Students of the Month. She is the daughter of Dean and Julie Zuidema, and has two sisters, Kallie, 15, and Lauren, 19.

Favorite class: Calculus. Math has always clicked for me.

Least-favorite class: English. I can't sit still long enough to read.

Favorite teacher: Alexis Rivera. I've been in his calculus classes for 3 years, and he is entertaining.

School activities: Football, basketball poms (captain), track and field, freshman mentoring, National Honor Society, and band (drum major)

Civic, church, volunteer or other activities: Volunteer at CGH Medical Center, member of Bethel Reformed Church

Do you have a job? I work at the Coloma Park District teaching dance and cheer to children ages 6-12.

What will you do after high school? I will be attending a 4-year college, but I am currently undecided about my major and am exploring all my options.

What is something you learned in high school that you think you will never use? How to dissect a crayfish

What kind of music are you listening to? Anything with a good dance beat, I'm always trying to find new music for choreography.

What is your favorite:

Food: Oreos and refried beans (not together, though)

Movie: Harry Potter

TV show: "Dance Moms"

Do you have a hobby? Dancing. I've been in competitive dance for 11 years.

What's the one thing in your life you can't do without? My phone, of course!

What is your advice for surviving high school? Have a good sense of humor. You're going to need to be able to laugh at yourself.

What scares you? Frogs. They are the most creepy, slimy things.

If you could try any job for a day, what would it be? I would want to be a dancer for The Rockettes. Their technique is perfect, and performing in New York City would be incredible.

If you could go anywhere in the world for free, where would it be? I would travel to Greece, because I've always wanted to see the ancient ruins and visit the beaches on the Mediterranean Sea.

What is your proudest moment? High jumping at state; the atmosphere is very intense and nerve-racking. I'm proud I was able to handle it and do my best.

Shout out to: Alyssa Cedro, my best friend since kindergarten
