Betty Lenihan

PRINCETON —  Betty J. Lenihan, 82, of Princeton passed away Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Liberty Village of Princeton.

Born Dec. 28, 1931, in Independence, Iowa, to Paul and Alta (Olds) Shannon, she married Leo Lenihan Dec. 28, 1949, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7 1995.

She had worked at Prairie View Nursing Home and Perry Memorial Hospital.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Princeton.

Surviving are her children, Charles (Pam) Lenihan of Tiskilwa, Richard Lenihan of Princeton, Frank (Anna) Lenihan of Naples, Fla., Barbara Prater of Naples, Fla., Mary (Randy) Coomer of Sheffield and Diana (Alan) Delbridge of Tiskilwa; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers, Whitey (Alice) Shannon of Fairbanks, Iowa, Perk (Janet) Shannon of Iowa and LeRoy (Bertha) Shannon of Independence, Iowa; three sisters, Sophie Brown of Independence, Iowa, Lindy Welsh of Brandon, Iowa, and Joyce Leininger of Waterloo, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Larry, James and Robert Lenihan; four brothers; and one sister.

A memorial visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17, in the Fiocchi-Jensen Funeral Home, Princeton. Private graveside services will be held at the Oakland Cemetery, Princeton, at a later date.
