Opened in 2009, the Lincoln-Way West High School Warriors enjoy a tradition of success and have high expectations for all of the school's students to perform well in and out of the classroom.
Built to accommodate the growing student population in the area, Lincoln-Way West, 21701 S. Gougar Road, New Lenox, sits on 100 acres and is the largest of the four high schools in the district. According to the school's website, enrollment has grown from 954 students in the 2009-10 school year to 1,339 students in the 2012-13 year. Lincoln-Way West serves residents in part of New Lenox.
According to the school's website, the faculty includes 85 certified staff members, 75 percent of which have Masters Degrees. Eighty-seven percent of graduates from the class of 2012 have continued their education at a post-secondary institution.
In 2012, Lincoln-Way West students boasted an average ACT score of 23, compared to the Illinois average of 20.5 and the national average of 21.1. In 2012, students took 242 Advanced Placement tests, with 172 of those tests scoring a three or above and earning the test takers college credits.
The school offers more than 40 activities and 28 sports over three seasons. The Athletic Department is run by Athletic Director Ted Robbins and Assistant Athletic Director Jake Zajk. Lincoln-Way West is a member of the Southwest Suburban Conference.
In a letter posted on the school's website, Principal Monica Schmitt asked the Lincoln-Way West community to share in the school's vision by promoting the four pillars of the school: wisdom, honor, courage and respect.
