New kid on the block, Hines Supply Wheaton is filling a three-year void in the building supply industry left when FE Wheaton Lumber closed its doors.
“We’ve been in business here since a year ago April when we opened this facility,” Hines Wheaton General Manager Pat Briody said. “The area was starving for a lumber yard. We reopened it and we’ve had great success. We’re just happy to be back in the community.”
The new facility has worked out well, Briody said.
“The response has been great,” he said. “Our customers were traveling because there's no other lumber yard around this area. Their business was suffering as a result. Now that we’re here, they’re able to get their materials here.”
Hines has several locations, four of them lumber yards - in Alsip, Hampshire, Grayslake and Wheaton, Briody said.
“Ours has the biggest showroom - 4,500 square feet,” he explained. “We have cabinet displays, interior and exterior doors and windows, so for the contractor dealing with his homeowner or for our (residential) customers, they can come in and look at the product. It’s open to anyone.”
If a customer wants a kitchen for instance, “They can come in with dimensions and meet with our sales people who will design it for them,” Briody said. “They work with the homeowner and the customer and assist them all the way through it.”
Hines Supply Wheaton also stocks a full line of building materials, treated materials for decking and decking itself, moldings and trim. An off-site mill facility supplies interior doors.
With 25 employees to serve customers’ needs, “We have experienced inside and outside sales teams with a lot of years in the business,” Briody said. “We’ve got great delivery service, with experienced drivers and yard personnel. We’re set up to get all your product delivered complete & on time.”
