SYCAMORE – DeKalb-based indie band FUE will return to Christian Connection in downtown Sycamore to play an acoustic in-store performance at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. The show is free and open to everyone. The in-store performance will feature music from FUE’s recently released CD, Gray Matters.
“We are really excited to come back to Christian Connection and share our new music,” said FUE’s lead singer/songwriter Joanna Rutzky. “We played here during Sycamore’s Downtown Chocolate Walk and we had a blast. Shari and Christian Connection have been really supportive of FUE, and we are glad to have a chance to return the favor.”
Christian Connection is the only local retailer to carry all of FUE’s CDs.
FUE has spent the past several years playing shows at festivals, schools, churches, bars, and music venues throughout the U.S. In 2011, FUE was voted to be part of the New Band Showcase at the Cornerstone Music Festival, and the band was featured on the festival’s main stage. In 2012, FUE was selected from nearly 400 bands to be part of the Extreme Tour, the band’s first national tour. Last summer, FUE’s Resist the Fear-Pursue the Dream Tour played nearly 30 shows in six states, including headlining at Nashville’s historic 12th & Porter music venue.
FUE has played headlining slots at the Hard Rock Cafes in Chicago and Indianapolis and the band has provided opening support for Stryper, Rhett Walker Band, and Daniel and the Lion. Songs from FUE’s Resist CD and Winter’s Eve EP have been added to the playlists of over 200 terrestrial and internet radio stations throughout the U.S. and around the world. FUE’s latest CD, Gray Matters, was released in June. Two songs from the CD, “Go On” and “Sweet Release,” have been selected to be featured on Women of Substance Radio in Los Angeles.
“While the Hard Rocks and the big festivals are fun, we love playing these intimate in-store performances,” Rutzky said. “These shows give us a chance to really interact with the audience and, as musicians, that is truly satisfying. We love getting to know the people who come out to hear us better.”
