A Streamwood man who followed a woman from a night club then intentionally side swiped the woman’s car and sexually assaulted her after she stopped her vehicle has been sentenced to 15 years in prison, according to the Office of Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez.
Mario Moore, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault in connection with the attack on a 21-year-old woman Sept. 29, 2012 in Bartlett.
According to prosecutors, the woman left the Cadillac Ranch Bar after spending the evening with some friends. As the victim was driving home, her car was sideswiped. When the victim exited her car to investigate the damage, Moore also exited his vehicle. Prosecutors said the victim recognized the defendant from seeing him earlier that night at the bar.
Prosecutors said the defendant then grabbed the victim and forced her into his vehicle, where he hit her in the face and on her body. Moore then sexually assaulted the victim in his car. After the assault, the victim was eventually able to escape and the police were notified. Moore was arrested and charged after a police investigation.
Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta sentenced Moore to the 15-year prison term during a hearing at the Cook County Courthouse in Rolling Meadows.
