ELMHURST – District 205 has announced four new central office administrators just a few weeks after a letter from Board of Education president Jim Collins to parents addressing concerns about six administrators leaving the district.
• Kathleen Kosteck has been named the assistant superintendent for student services. For the past three years, she has been director of student services for Indian Prairie District 204. Kosteck has also been a principal and assistant principal in District 204, serving a total of 17 years there.
Kosteck holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Illinois State University.
• James Woell will be assistant superintendent for human resources. He most recently served as principal of Attea Middle School in Glenview District 34, a position he began in 2006.
Woell has also served as a teacher, department chairman, an assistant and associate principal for more than 20 years. Woell holds a doctorate in educational leadership from Argosy University.
• David Beedy will be the new science, technology, engineering and math – also know as STEM – curriculum coordinator, overseeing mathematics and science instruction. He comes to Elmhurst from Perspectives Charter School in Chicago, where he served as assistant principal. Beedy is one of 41 educators, chosen from across the state, who are developing a model science curriculum based on the Next Generation Science Standards, which will be connected to the Common Core literacy and math standards
Beery holds a master’s degree in Earth science education from the University of Illinois, and a Type 75 in educational leadership from DePaul University.
• Debra Wright will be the new humanities coordinator, overseeing English, language arts and social studies curricula. She comes to Elmhurst from St. Charles District 303, where she has served as assistant director of curriculum for the past two years.
Wright holds a master’s degree in administration and leadership from Concordia University and is a National Board Certified Teacher in early childhood/literacy: reading-language arts.
These new administrators are in addition to Michelle Fitzgerald, who was named assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction last month.
