Hickory Creek board of education recognizes students and teachers

FRANKFORT – After competing at the school and regional science fairs, three Hickory Creek Middle School students qualified to advance to the state science fair at Northern Illinois University on May 9 and 10.

At the May District 157-C Board of Education meeting, the Board recognized state science fair qualifier Alex Glass for his project “Do Ants prefer natural or artificial sugar?,” Monica Nagy for her project “Do plants tolerate gray water?,” and Anthony Sottosanto for his project “Strengths of alloys all around us.”

Alex and Monica won Gold Awards for their science projects at the state science fair. Anthony was unable to attend the state competition. At the board meeting, Hickory Creek Middle School Principal Dr. Kevin Suchinski also thanked the school’s science fair teacher sponsors, Diane Bunnell and Sharon Komarck.
