West Chicago library board appoints new director

WEST CHICAGO – The West Chicago Public Library District's current Adult Services manager will soon serve as the library's executive director, after current Administrative Librarian Melody E. Coleman retires May 23.

The library's Board of Trustees appointed Benjamin R. Weseloh to be the new administrative librarian.

Weseloh has more than 17 years of professional library experience in both academic and public libraries, including project management and library renovation, and he has a passion for working with the public and a focus on providing an outstanding customer experience, a library news release stated.

"The board is pleased to select a new library director who intends to enhance the level of service that the library offers the community with innovative solutions to changing community needs,” board President Nancy Conradt said in the release. “Ben Weseloh has a proven record of sound management practices and creative program ideas.”

Weseloh earned a bachelor's degree in English literature from Rosary College in 1995 and a master's degree in library and information science from Dominican University in 1997. He also holds a master's degree in organizational leadership from 2004 from Dominican University.

“I am looking forward to working directly with the Board of Library trustees and the community to meet the changing needs of the district as technology continues to alter traditional library service,” Weseloh said in the release.
