WEST CHICAGO – Teachers at Leman Middle School in West Chicago nominated several students from their classes to receive the "Outstanding Student of the Quarter" award for the school's third quarter.
Nominations are based on students' positive character, scholastic achievement and growth, community and school action and interaction, and leadership with the middle school.
The following students were nominated for the award:
• Eighth grade: Hector Calderon, Catherine Franch, Madysen Simanonis, Eraclio Marquez,

• Seventh grade: Jacob Diep, Ariana Alcantar, Jennifer Garcia, Roberto Medina, Michael Cortez, Bianca Correa
• Sixth grade: Ordalis Martinez, Owen Mantz, Moria Kelly, Cynthia Espino, Eesha Rehman
• Sixth/seventh/eighth combined: Areli Garcia Medina, Jessica Huerta, Christian Gomez
• Computer programming: Victor Ramirez
• General music: Fabian Bahena, Cassondra Meeters
• Art education: Rezhen Gaurino, Jose Hinojosa

Other Leman students were recognized earlier in May for their participation in the WordMasters Challenge, an exercise in critical thinking that involves becoming familiar with a set of words that are considerably harder than grade level and then using the words to complete analogies expressing various kinds of logical relationships.
Students recognized for their outstanding efforts and results in the WordMasters Challenge include:
