Willowbrook junior first baseman Alyssa Ressinger put on a show against Wheeling on Wednesday. Ressinger blasted a home run in each of her three at-bats in the Warriors’ 12-1 victory. Her and fellow junior Sam Schmidt have led the Warriors to a 4-2 start and the team has scored in double digits in five of their first six games. Ressinger is 12-for-21 with five doubles, four home runs, 14 RBIs and 11 runs through six games. Ressinger, this week’s Oak Trust Credit Union Athlete of the Week, talked with Suburban Life sports reporter Dan Santaromita about her ongoing recruiting process and the team’s goals for the season.
Your classmate Sam Schmidt is already committed to Northern Illinois. How is your recruiting coming along?
I’m a free agent. I’ve been sending emails and such, but I haven’t really found a school yet. I’m still looking.
Do you enjoy the recruiting process or is it stressful?
It’s kind of stressful. They put a lot of pressure on you to commit early and get out there early. I guess I just didn’t do it early enough.
What goals do you have for the season?
Win conference. We’ll get that first and then take it from there.
