Glendale Heights man charged with 7 counts of child pornography possession

GLENDALE HEIGHTS – A Glendale Heights man was charged with seven counts of possession of child pornography Thursday, according to a Glendale Heights Police Department news release.

Glendale Heights police were led to Richard W. Harrod, 67, of the 2100 block of Whitman Drive, through a child pornography investigation initiated by the Illinois Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, according to the release.

Evidence uncovered in that investigation was turned over to Glendale Heights police investigators, who obtained a search warrant for Harrod’s residence, the release stated.

Investigators seized computer equipment from Harrod's home when the search warrant was carried out early Thursday and found several computerized files depicting child pornography, according to the release.

Harrod, who was present at the time the search warrant was executed, was arrested and transported to the DuPage County Jail, where he is being held on $150,000 bond, the release stated.
