Potty mouth gets charged
A 21-year-old man witnessed shouting obscenities at no one in particular was charged with disturbing the peace after he decided to level his verbal assault at a police officer at 2:51 a.m. March 8.
Angelo S. Munoz, of the 6400 block of 28th Street, was standing on the sidewalk in the 6800 block of Windsor Avenue smoking a cigarette and shouting profanities when an officer driving by told him to pipe down. Instead Munoz lunched a barrage of vulgarities and started spitting at the officer.
Arson suspected
in truck fire
Berwyn fire officials believe a fire that destroyed a truck at 5:45 a.m. March 9 in the 6900 block of Pershing Road may have been an act of arson.
The owner said her children alerted her to the fact her truck parked in front of their home was fully engulfed in flames. Film footage from a security camera showed a man walk to the back of the truck, break the rear window and throw something inside the truck cab that flared up in flames.
Student pulls fire alarm
at Lincoln School
Berwyn firefighters rushed to Lincoln School at 8:38 a.m. March 11 only to find an alarm had been pulled without cause by a student.
Lincoln School principal Michael Joel Zarco told police that school officials determined the alarm was pulled by a 14-year-old student who said she did not want to be in school.
Berwyn man mugged at laundromat
A Berwyn man was robbed of the contents of his wallet and cellphone as he walked out of the World’s Largest Laundromat, 6246 Cermak Road, at 10 p.m. March 15.
The victim said four male Hispanics, all wearing dark clothing, jumped him outside of the business on Harvey Street and took a credit card, identification card, $10 and a Galaxy S3 cellphone.
DUI
• Alan Loeza-Ayala, 27, of the 1400 block of South East Avenue, Berwyn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped for speeding in the 6900 block of Roosevelt Road at 3:26 a.m. March 16. He also was issued several other citations.
• Eduardo Suarez-Torres, 26, of the 4800 block of South Karlov Avenue, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being stopped for driving the wrong way down Highland and Harvey avenues at 3:37 a.m. March 16. He was also charged with driving without a license, driving without insurance and two counts of improper lane use.
• Thomas G. Ruiz, 38, of the 1600 block of South Harvey Avenue, Berwyn, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being stopped for driving 65 mph in a 25-mph zone on Cermak Road and running two red lights at 1:50 a.m. March 15. He was also charged with two counts of disobeying a traffic signal, driving with no insurance, speeding and driving without a seat belt.
• Inez M. Washington, 47, of the 200 block of West Washington Boulevard, Oak Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs after being stopped by police for driving without headlights on at 11:23 p.m. March 14. She was also issued three driving citations.
• Jim Mracek, 61, of the 6700 block of West Stanley Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police observed the Express taxi he was driving strike another vehicle while he pulled out of a parking space in the 3100 block of Oak Park Avenue at 11:23 p.m. March 10. Mracek was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to leave information, no proof of insurance and improper backing.
• Leonard Lomeli-Hernandez, 19, of the 3000 block of West Columbus Avenue, Chicago, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol after he was stopped for weaving in traffic from the 6800 to the 7200 blocks of 16th Street at 2:50 a.m. March 8. He was also charged with improper lane usage.
• Jose Brenes, 58, of the 2300 block of Westover, North Riverside, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to the 2600 block of South Ridgeland Avenue regarding a disturbance at 10 p.m. March 8. He was also charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked, failure to wear a seatbelt and disorderly conduct.
• Charity M. Aguirre, 31, of the 700 block of North Wolf Road, Hillside, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop for speeding at Kenilworth Avenue and Cermak Road about 1 a.m. March 7. She was also charged with two counts of having open alcohol in the vehicle and speeding.

• Four hubcaps were reported stolen from a 1999 Cadillac in the 2200 block of South Oak Park Avenue March 16.
• A UPS parcel containing a home theatre receiver was reported stolen from the 1800 block of South Highland Avenue March 14.
• A white, 1996 Honda was reported stolen from the 2100 block of South East Avenue March 10.
• An electrical meter was reported stolen from a building in the 6300 block of West 19th Street March 9.
• A maroon, 1997 Acura was reported stolen from the 3400 block of South Home Avenue March 9. Inside the vehicle was fishing and bow hunting equipment.
• A blue, 2000 Buick Le Sabre was reported stolen from the 1300 block of Oak Park Avenue March 9.
• A white, 2004 Grand Prix was reported stolen from the 6800 block of Windsor Avenue March 8.
• A black, 2012 Chevrolet Silverado was reported stolen from the 6400 block of West Cermak Road March 7.

Burglary and theft reports
• About 300 plastic storage tote boxes were reported stolen from a storage area at Walgreens, 4800 W. Cermak Road, March 14.
• Shoes, credit cards and $1,000 in cash was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 4800 block of West 30th Street March 16. Entry was gained through a broken passenger side window.
• A white, 1990 Peterbilt with a black Hilbit dump trailer was reported stolen from the 3400 block of South Cicero Avenue March 14.
• A red, 1996 GMC Jimmy was reported stolen from the 1300 block of South 48th Court March 15.
• A silver, 2008 Nissan was reported stolen from the 1900 block of South 50th Avenue March 16. Keys were in the ignition and the vehicle was left running unattended.
• A green, 2001 Volvo was reported stolen from the 5200 block of West 30th Street March 16.
• The face plate from a dual USB stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1900 block of South 49th Court March 11.
• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2800 block of South 49th Avenue March 11.
• Two pit bull puppies were reported stolen from a secured kennel at a home in the 1400 block of South 49th Court March 9. A total of five puppies in all were reported stolen in two incidents from the same location.
• Two saws and a hammer drill were reported stolen from a garage in the 2600 block of South 59th Court March 5.
• An air compressor and a speaker box were reported stolen from a garage in the 3700 block of South 56th Court March 6. A service door was unlocked at the time.
• A purse containing miscellaneous identification cards and $120 in cash was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 3000 block of South Cicero Avenue March 5.
• A gray, 2000 Toyota Solara was reported stolen from the 1800 block of South 50th Court March 4. Keys were in the ignition and the vehicle was left running and unattended.
