PALATINE – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Metra train headed to Harvard, according to Metra.
The pedestrian was hit by the Union Pacific – Northwest Metra train about 3:30 p.m. at Baldwin Road between the Palatine and Barrington train stations, spokesman Michael Gillis said.
The identity of the pedestrian is unknown at this time but is a white man believed to be in his 60s, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No details about the situation surrounding the incident were available.
Passengers on the involved train and on a Chicago-bound train that left Harvard at 4:35 p.m. were transferred to later trains, according to the Metra website.
