MCC offers two forklift training courses

MARENGO – McHenry County College is joining with forklift manufacturer UniCarriers Americas Corp. to offer forklift training.

The “Forklift Operator” and “Train the Trainer” programs teach students how to comply with OSHA regulations.

The Forklift Operator course teaches participants about forklift operation. Students will learn the skills required to operate a lift truck in a correct and professional manner.  The training is from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 14. The cost is $195 and includes lunch. Register for the March 14 class by using course ID: NTE S54 006.

The participant’s employer must evaluate their driving ability on the employer’s forklift. The employer must then certify that the employee may drive forklifts for that company.

MCC also is offering a “Train the Trainer” class. It will be May 21, 22 and 23. The course ID is NTE S55 003. The 2½-day class will teach trainers, safety department staff, human resource department staff or supervisors to present the one-day forklift training class. The fee is $1,100, which includes materials to provide training at their workplace and lunch.

Both courses are held at the UniCarriers Americas facility in Marengo. UniCarriers Americas presents participants with a certificate of completion at the end of the course.
