Updated: Two death accident closes I-90 at Barrington Road

BARRINGTON – Preliminary autopsy results determined multiple injuries to be the cause of death for two 25-year-old men who died in a Sunday morning car crash on I-90 at Barrington Road, according to the Cook County medical investigations unit.

David Xiao, 25 and Nguyen Knoi Nguywn Pham, 25, were pronounced dead around 10:25 a.m. Sunday at the Cook County medical examiner's office. Toxicology results are pending, officials said.

A third person was injured in the crash, as the silver Toyota Corolla headed west on I-90 veered off the road, and struck a light pole at Barrington Road around 7:45 a.m. Xiao and Pham were found dead on the scene when Illinois State Police arrived.

The medical examiner's office said Xiao lived on the 2300 block of South Stewart Ave. in Chicago, but Pham's home address has not yet been detemined.

The car was found on the left shoulder of the eastbound lanes, leaving the highway closed for several hours, police said.

The injured victim, said to be in good condition, was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, according to the Hoffman Estates fire department.

The interstate was open as of 12:25 p.m. Sunday, police said. The accident is still under investigation.
